Dragons are shrouded in mystery and intrigue. They played a big role throughout celtic history, legends, and folklore; they were respected as great creatures who brought good fortune to those whom it surrounded them with. Dragons had the ability to fly; which was thought of as an indication that these mythical beings had close ties with the gods themselves.
There is no consensus on where dragons came from or what their exact purpose was within celtic culture and religion. One thing for certain though is that celtics believed dragons could be either beneficial or harmful depending upon its environment and agenda at hand.

The celtic dragon symbolizes many things, including immortality and renewal. The celtics believed that the dragons would fly into the underworld to give birth; then come back out after nine months with all new life surrounding them. This was compared to death followed by rebirth of sorts which is why this creature had such a significant role within the culture
In addition was believed that knowledge comes from these creatures when they are in their human form
Dragons were also thought of as protectors against evil forces who may try to harm those around it.
Types Of Dragons
There are two main types of celtic dragons:
– Sea Dragons – these creatures lived in oceans and rivers; where they had control over all water sources within their environments
– Land Dragons – These mythical beings could be found anywhere from forests to mountains as well as other places on land. They live almost everywhere there is earth present for them to reside upon.
