Documentarty: GIGANTIC CARGO SHIP
Duration: 43 min
Mechanised shipping has transformed the world economy. Standard-shipping containers form an internationally recognised unit of transportation and hundreds of thousands of them are distributed around the globe every day, with every major world port built and designed specifically to handle them.
Gigantic Cargo Ship follows the journey of the CSCL Globe, a Hong Kong registered ship that holds the title of world’s largest container ship’, as she journeys to the Port of Felixstowe, UK, for the first time.
Richard Westcott climbs aboard and leads the audience on an exploration of her 400m length and down into the bowels of the ship. With a capacity of 19,100 containers, there is a lot to see and a lot of crew to be interviewed. The captain, engineers, mechanics, galley workers, crane operators and port crew are all very happy to talk with him.
This documentary will appeal to all fans of ships, technology and gigantic machines.
