Arabia, a land of never-ending sand, undulating across the desert in seas of dunes, dry and dusty, nothing else there but camels and the occasional oasis. At least, that’s the popular assumption, right?
Wild Arabia aims to shine some light onto this view, showing how actually there is a rich natural diversity to the Arabian Peninsula. It’s particular climate means that many of the native creatures have adapted and are unique to the area.
While it is true that the harsh desert climate is not conducive to wildlife, ibex, camels, goats, hyenas and various rodents can still be found here. The sea life of the Red Sea and Persian Gulf, warm, sheltered waters, is incredibly rich with an abundance of marine life and coral formations.
It is in the southern mountain region, with its cooler, humid air, and forested slopes that most natural life is found. Here there is amphibious life, reptiles and huge numbers of migrating birds of many different species.
